ABOUT PRACHI
PRACHI — Patients and Relatives Affected with Cancer, Helped and Informed — is a not-for-profit foundation working across Maharashtra and Goa. We help people face cancer with less fear and better information: through awareness, free screening, tobacco-cessation work, and support for patients and their families. Everything we offer to patients is free.
OUR STORY
Hope of a new morning
Since October 2024, PRACHI has moved from a plan on paper to screening camps in villages, training rooms, and a webinar reaching across India. This page is the record. Every figure below comes from a camp register or an attendance sheet, and we update it after each event.
Why We Started
PRACHI Hope Foundation was formed out of a deep concern over the striking increase in cancer cases around us. With an estimated one in nine persons in India at risk of developing cancer, the urgent need for robust prevention programmes became impossible to ignore.
What Was Missing
We found that very few cancer-affected individuals in semi-urban and rural areas have access to basic support groups. Far too often, cancer is feared as an incurable disease, and patients face immense struggles due to a lack of proper diagnosis information, treatment options, financial constraints, and guidance for managing physical and mental stress.
How We Make a Difference
This is precisely where PRACHI steps in to bridge the gap — by imparting essential knowledge, accurate information, compassionate counselling, and practical support.
Our Mission
To foster informed and reassured cancer patients and their relatives.
Our Collaborative Approach
While many organisations focus solely on awareness or patient support, PRACHI actively collaborates with like-minded institutions to align our goals and maximise our collective impact.
Prachi means the first light of dawn — the direction of the east. It is where our work begins: with early detection, clear information, and hope.
