Services

Service Overview: Discover how our services offer help, hope, and healing for those impacted by cancer.

Our Objectives for 2025-2026:

In the first year, given the limited funds and a smaller number of volunteers, we will undertake the following activities, while simultaneously raising our pool of volunteers and the funds through donations.

1] We will conduct cancer awareness campaigns, and wherever possible, conduct cancer screening. As a part of awareness campaigns, we will explain causes of cancer, and inform people about preventive lifestyle modifications that can reduce cancer risk.

2] We will connect cancer patients with other patients who are diagnosed with a similar cancer and are either undergoing treatment or have been cured of cancer, and with their relatives, following their informed consent.

3] We will help patients for procurement of less expensive generic drugs.

4] Our volunteers can be Patient Happy-Makers who can communicate with patients via a call or visit; we can conduct follow up enquiries. We can keep them company and help forget pain by providing material to read, or entertain groups of patients by singing, playing games or suggesting movies and audio books. We can help patients tackle real-life difficulties and run errands for them, or help overcome loneliness by finding like-minded friends for them.

5] Our volunteers can help patients feel useful to the society by teaching them digital literacy, hobbies, crafts, art, etc.

Our Objectives for 2026-2027:

We anticipate an availability of increased financial resources and a higher number of volunteers; and will further expand our activities to include the following:

1] We will provide guidance and information to affected patients and relatives about the hospitals which provide cancer care, the oncologists who treat for cancer, approximate cost of the cancer treatment, the availability of nursing and attendants at home. We will explain treatment options, and the financial, physical and emotional challenges during the treatment.
We will provide links for Second Medical Opinion programs of reputed cancer centers.

2] Where necessary, we will provide information about palliative care or end-of-life care, either at a hospice or at home.

3] We will try to offer lodging and boarding for outstation patients and their relatives.

4] We will provide transportation assistance to the patients by arranging vehicles, and fuel for a driving pool of volunteers who offer rides to patients.

5] We will support cancer caregiver relatives by assisting with financial management during treatment, and setting fiscal priorities.
